Just by reading 3AM Dad, you could win!*
This week I bought a case of beer and a iPhone4S, what more could the 3AM Dad ask for!? Well, my Opena Case for my new phone has brought it all together.  Opena is the worlds first iPhone4 case with a slide out bottle opener. This fantastic device fits on both the iPhone4 and 4S. The Opena has changed my life (well, sure I’ve only used it for a couple days, but it has increased my...

The shoe is on the other foot.
Every child has an issue with doing something. Holding a pencil. Riding a bike Toilet training etc. Well, Kaine my 5 year old, has the uncanny ability of putting his shoes on the wrong feet. No matter the shoe or style 90% of the time, he puts them on the wrong feet. Recently, he put his shoes on and this is what he showed me - “Don’t you think they are on the wrong feet?”...

"Growing up" or "Growing up too fast"? →
On 3AM DAD’s Facebook page, I am going to run a series of polls, asking questions about “Growing up or Growing up too fast?”. As parents, it is hard to know when you should give your kids more responsibility. Are they too young? Am I babying them too much? So over the next few weeks, I am going to ask various questions starting with - “When did you start asking your...

I am... I am turning into a Mum
I woke up earlier this week to my oldest son Jaecob telling his mum “I don’t know where my sport shoes are!”. The usual toing and froing followed. “Have you looking in the shoe drawer?” “Have you looked near the back door?” Have you looked under your bed?” etc. etc. etc. As I laid there, I thought… where did he wear them last? What were...

I know why women need handbags.
As most parents know, school holiday’s are not only a great time to spend extended periods of time with the kids, but it is also very exhausting. Towards the end of a very long day in the second week of the recent school holidays of the kids dragging me around most of South East Queensland, we had one more place to go.  I stopped in at the house and loaded up my pockets with what we needed...

Macca's
We had an impromptu McDonalds run last week, as I had to do a few things after school and didn’t have time cook. At 6pm, I called Mel to ask how hungry the boys were, she replied “Pretty hungry. What are you going to have?”Now this was a slightly loaded question, as we are supposed to be on a diet. “Not sure, I don’t mind going to Subway if you want?” was my...

The Alphabet is made up of Vowels and Consonants.
This one was passed on by Kaine’s Teacher’s Assistant, Mrs Hacking :). The Prep (Kindy) class were singing songs about the alphabet, when Kaine eagerly put his hand in the air.  “Yes Kaine?” Said Mrs Lewis Proudly Kaine responded “The alphabet is made up of Owls and Castanets” “Don’t you mean Vowels and Consonants?” Mrs Lewis responded. ...

Great day.
I’m pretty sure I haven’t posted much about Jaecob and his learning disability. Jaecob is 6 (almost 7), in Year 1 at school and has been diagnosed with an Auditory Processing Disorder approximately 2 years ago. In a nut shell, Jaec has trouble with verbal direction and verbal understanding. I liken it to the dog (Santa’s Little Helper) in the Simpsons Episode when Bart is trying...

Must be doing something right.
All 6 of us went out for Thai on a recent holiday. Mel sat in the car, while I went inside to see if they could accommodate us. “Can I get a table for 5 and a pram please?” I asked the teenage waitress. She looked at me quizzically and said “We don’t have prams, but I could give you a high chair?” “No, we have the pram, I meant, we need space for a...

Is it a Girl thing? 2 examples of girls differing...
Yve is our fourth child, but our first pink one. Apart from the obvious differences between girls and boys (i.e. She can’t wee over her own head) we are starting to notice other things 1. None of the boys ever pooed in the bath… Yve has done this twice (refer to Explodapoo for an example). Yve is hitting most of her development milestones. She is still pretty lazy and doesn’t...
