We expect respect and honesty from our children,...
We are human, we will make mistakes. You will may mistakes in life and you will make many mistakes when it comes to raising your children (trust me, I know).
The thing is, you need to show humility and be honest when you do make these mistakes. You need to apologise to your children when you make mistakes and show them respect when things you do, impact their lives. Whether they are 2 years old...

If they don't know that they can get out of the...
I was grocery shopping this morning with my 4 year old and baby girl. I only needed a few things, so I asked Izaac to pull a wheelie basket and I hung a basket off the back of the stroller.
We were half way around when I heard from a distance “Look at that little girl, she is sitting in her pram nice and quietly”. I looked up to see a Mother and Grandmother with 2 children. The...
xibalbadance asked: Just like to say that I'm following a fellow parent with a child with APD! My son just recently got diagnosed with auditory sensory issues (he's only two) and would like to connect with fellow parents that have children with this condition to see tips and advice!

We aren’t big sharers when it comes to pics of our kids online, but we had to share our beautiful (I know I’m bias) little girl with you all in the Bonds Baby Search 2012. Please feel free to share and vote for our little girl.
Thanks ;) 3AM Dad.

Not enough tension
After a recent shopping trip with Izaac (4) and Yve (1), we were exiting the car and I asked Izaac to open the house door for me, as I had full hands… he dawdled along in no rush. I asked him to hurry up, as the bags were heavy. He finally opened the door, head dipped, sulking.
“What’s wrong mate?” I asked.
“Nothing… you just don’t give me enough...

Doctors and Jelly Beans!
What’s the deal with Doctor’s and Jelly Beans!?
I have been to the doctors 3 times in the last week (various reasons for various children), each time I had Yve with me. She has just gone 13 months old and every time we were leaving, the doctor or nurse tried to shove a Jelly Bean down her throat. Each to their own, but I don’t give my 13 month old lollies!

Jaecob has worked so hard!
Well we are into the 4th week of the school year and I am finally getting back into a routine. I wanted to write a post about Jaec, as I am very proud of him and the work he did over the holidays and so far this year.
The School Holidays weren’t all swimming and bike riding for Jaec. I have posted previously about Jaec’s learning difficulties and last year was a very tough year, as he...

Happy Valentine's Day to the love of my life.
I watch you when you are with our children. I am in awe how they hang on your every word and it gives me a glimpse of the love that I have for you. I may not spend as many hours looking into your eyes like I did 10 years ago, but just a glance reminds me of what we have.
I watch you sleep, with the rise and fall of your chest, I smile knowing that when you wake, I will be the first (second, third...

3AM Dad - Tip of the Day
Teach your little ones to put their hands up in the air when you say “Hooray!”
We teach out kids, “Peek-a-boo” and “Hi Five”, but the “Hooray” has another function.
How hard is it to take off a baby’s shirt/top/dress, because they won’t put their arms up… no more.
“Yve, Hooray!”

Dad, I want to be just like you.
Like most week day mornings in most households around the world, my house was in turmoil earlier this week. There was homework being finished, cereal being eaten, a child running around with no clothes on except a hat and a sock. I was, as usual, running late.
I was making sandwiches, still not showered and only 1/2 way through my first coffee. Izaac (4) on the other hand, was dressed, had his...

Well there goes "Father of the Year" again.
Tuesday of this week started the same as any other day in the 3AM Dad household… One or two kids up on and off most of the night, 6 or 7 shots of coffee before lunch for me… pretty standard.
I was meeting friends for (yet another) coffee at 1pm, before having to pick the kids up early from school, as Jaec had a Optometrist appointment at 2:30pm. Now I am usually always running late...

Stupid stuff I've noticed.
No matter how well I throw the bedspread out over the bed the first time, I will throw it over again.
